COMMUNITY ADVOCACY

Alex is an incredibly active member of the climbing community, both locally and nationally.

After coming out publicly in 2018, Alex became an ambassador for Athlete Ally, a nonprofit organization that works to end homophobia and transphobia in sports.

This year, Alex joined forces with a few of her favorite brand partners to create PRIDE themed gear that gives back, including a PRIDE beer with Athletic Brewing where 100% of profits were donated to Athlete Ally, and a PRIDE themed shoe collaboration with Evolv & Rise Coffee Co. with profits being donated to three different LGBTQ+ organizations: The Venture Out Project, Inclusive Outdoors, and The Black Trans Travel Fund.

When not competing herself, Alex Joined forces with NBC’s Olympic Climbing Analyst Meagan Martin as USA Climbing’s color commentator for the 2021-2023 competition seasons.

In 2011 Alex helped PCI (Pro Climbers International) develop nation-wide youth and adult clinic programs. These clinics focus on training tips, improving technique, competition strategy, and give young athletes a chance to climb with their favorite pro’s. Alex has taught dozens of clinics over the years, indoors and out to both youth and adults, experts and beginners.

Alex has been involved in public speaking for years, giving her first climbing demonstration to a local elementary school at the age of fourteen. Now, Alex's public speaking is on a larger scale, giving slide shows, talks, and presentations at Universities, sales meetings, fundraisers, and other events.

Alex is also an athlete ambassador for The Access Fund, an organization devoted to the preservation of climbing areas around the country. While living in Las Vegas, Alex served on the board for the Southern Nevada Climbers Coalition, a local organization devoted to the preservation of her favorite climbing areas around Vegas.

Few athletes exhibit world class athleticism and professionalism in the same package. Alex can be trusted in any situation: climbing, teaching, advocating, or speaking.
